Pulled a camera card today. Been out there since mid March. Camera was new placed in the woods last September. Still on original batteries reading full charge. Had 5500 pics to go thru today. I can see before my deer season starts I am going to need to do some coyote work. The last month had coyotes denned up and pups running all over. I'm leaning towards distressed pup sounds and try to take out momma. Until then, I don't see mature bucks using the area much. Deer activity dropped a ton in the last month since they seem to have dropped the pups.

Other than that. . . I ordered two more cameras tonight. Need to do a couple firmware updates on my Brownings and place them on another property. I have some other cameras I need to get out as well. Suppose I better get cameras out at a minimum if the season is going to get started. Normally they would have been out 2 months ago. Oh well. Camera pics or not, the deer are there. Pinch points haven't changed. Something will die.

Do they den in a hole in the ground or a thick brush pile or hollow felled tree?

I think they den in the ground most times. Seem to be easy. They'll take over an old groundhog hole. They don't get picky. By this point I'm not sure if they would still be in the ground though. I'm no expert.

After the initial card pull they disappeared. I did do some calling. Shot one. Very few pics of coyotes now. Have pulled camera cards a couple times. Nothing impressed me yet. My most mature deer is one I have pics of the last 4 years. Amazing brow tines. Nothing else. 110"? 120"? Don't know. Didn't even try to score him. If I get a shot at him I will likely take it just because of his age. He would be a trophy. Couple others that are unique racks but young. Couple I need to get a better look at. Probably need to shoot my bow some time. Been meaning to do that. As you can see, I'm not overly excited yet.

The recent weather hasn't helped. I was just starting to get roweled up too.

2016 thru 2019 buck. I just dubbed him "Goofy". I can think of some other names, but am open to suggestions.

Not sure what this dude will look like in a couple years. Never seen one like him.

Another couple of oddballs. I'm guessing the one dude was injured in velvet. Either that or he is the buck which was shot in the butt a few years ago by a youth hunter being "guided" by his dad to lob lead. I'd think he would be bigger than this though. Doesn't look like a 3-4yr old rack to me. Looks like he got a sausage hanging along his cheek. Poor guy. Bet the other deer make fun of him.
