Recurve for Beginner

My 16-year old son is asking for a recurve for Christmas. He's never shot one, nor have I. He isn't planning to hunt with it, so I guess just target practice.

Any suggestions for an entry-level one? I have idea how much he will use it and would rather not spend a fortune on one Also, is this something I can just buy online or does he need to be there to make sure it is right?

Thanks!

A Samick Sage should get the job done for him. It has removable limbs so you can get it with lighter limbs initially and progress into heavier limbs if necessary.

Go to three Rivers archery website. They have a Fleetwood for around $130-$150. It is a takedown recurve so the limbs are removable. You can always get a different weight set of limbs if needed in the future.
