Verizon coverage changed within the last 2-3 weeks and our home is now in a dead zone. Looking to switch to AT&T, for those of you with the currently are you happy? Anyone make the switch and not recommend?

I don't have any advice on switching as I have Verizon. Did you call them to see if maybe something didn't die on the tower?

I was forced to use AT&T on my deployments, they had the only phone card services at that time. Prices were outrageous. Ill never go back to them bc of it

DO NOT switch to at&t. Coverage is horrible compared to Verizon. Not only in rural areas but there are certain spots in the middle of damn columbus where coverage is shitty at best. I had Verizon before and made the mistake of switching to at&t. Just biding my time until my contract is up to switch back. Just my 2 cents, which by the way is more money than you should give to at&t

I work for Verizon but on the landline side of the house. Years ago I had a Nextel phone (I believe sprint was the carrier but I could be mistaken). When my friends and I went to Saskatchewan Canada to deer hunt, the only guy in camp that could use his phone had Verizon as their carrier. Since getting a Verizon phone, I’ve actually have made calls to camp to come and get me after shooting a buck....and this is out in the middle of nowhere in Canada. There are areas where the internet is inaccessible, but I’ve always been able to make a call. I’ve never had AT&T, but have several friends who do and they sometimes have reception troubles. I do know that Verizon has “dead” areas but on a whole, they do have the best coverage in the nation.

If it’s a drastic change from good to shit coverage I’d be bugging Verizon to make em fix it... Especially when the only other option is at&t....

I've had similar experience with AT&T. When I used to hunt Vinton I had AT&T and couldn't make a call without having to drive 2 miles to the top of a hill and sit on the roof of my truck. Switched to Verizon and I could download porn right at camp.

I have at&t and hate it. When data starts to run low they cut out texting and other weird shit. They don’t have a true unlimited plan. You buy so much high speed data and then it slows down. I wouldn’t recommend them.

I will tell you that both Verizon and ATT have their Pros and Cons. Where one doesn't work the other might and vice versa. It comes down to which works where you need it. They both Cover 99% of the populated US. They both cost just about identical. They both have almost identical rate plans. Both slow down your data once you hit a certain amount of usage on the unlimited plans. I have worked for both over the last twenty years on the Cellular side.

With that said if you haven't already I would either call or stop in the closest corporate store and inquire about the coverage issue.

Indeed they do. I bought two unlocked phones and needed a sim card to switch my lines over to the new phones. The Verizon site said to go to the store and get a free sim card then do the switch on my Verizon website or call them. The store would not give me the cards claiming they couldn't because I didn't buy the phones from them. I called the Verizon number and explained it to the rep, the rep told the store to give them to me and he would do the switch over the phone. The store still refused. I told the Verizon guy that the phones were unlocked and I'm sure the AT&T store down the road would be happy to install a sim card and switch them over for me. The Verizon customer care person had to escalate to a higher person who basically threatened the store. He said point blank they have tons of trouble with franchise stores and next time go to a corporate store.

Under the big Verizon or AT&T sign and/or on the front door under the name it should say Authorized Retailer or Authorized Agent if they are an independent dealer and not Corporate.

Store Locator online will also tell you.
Problem is that they are transferring more and more corporate stores to Authorized Retailers. Before long there will not be very many if any corporate locations.

I didnt have a chance to make it to a store to see whats up. It must not be a network thing or if it is, it is only impacting iphones. My wife’s samsung works just fine and my phone is right next to it trying to make a call lol. Hiping to get to the local store tonight.

Great input on AT&T, I was hoping they were just as good if not better than Verizon.

Might be an iPhone problem. Mine has been stupid the last 10 days or so. Half the time I can’t even hook up to WiFi. I did the update last night, so we will see if that helps. iPhone 8 I think is what I have.
