What are you using for trailer brake controllers? I honestly didn't realize the truck didn't have one. It has a bunch of options so I guess I overlooked this one. This appears to be a factory look that is clean. It also doesn't mount in front of my airbag.

I haven't looked into the newer factory ones. Not sure if they'll even work on a 14. What are you guys running?

BTW, Tekonsha is the only controller I've ever used. So that is why I searched them. I seen they had a newer style one with a dial knob which would work out if I mounted it to the left of the steering wheel.

No, never needed it.
I don't think I'll need it for the small moving I do around here once a year. (Under 10 miles) I'm trying to think ahead and possibly be able to run this thing up to Rita's. You see people doing it all the time with half tons of all the companies. Seen a yota today with a pretty damn good size 5th wheel. It worries me to not be prepared because I'm so impulsive with my traveling.

I know the numbers of these trucks way outperforms the truck of the 80s-90s HD trucks. So....thinking the days of passing people and having to be careful to not burn the tires is over. A once or twice a year trip up north might still be possible. Only hills are right here at the house. Just back it down. No need to be towing at 75-80 anyways. That powerstroke was just a damn beast.

One of these days I'll join your ranks... I've always liked Toyotas and plan to pick up an older Tacoma one of these days. Just don't tell my Duramax or she'll spit out an injector in jealousy 🤫

There's another thread of my adventure to getting this toyota. It involved a couple of injector issues with a couple of duramax...couple Cummins...couple ford's...

Dave, pls check the hitch for max TW if you have not already. Not sure if Yota changes their hitch classes based on trim/towing package, but with those max numbers in the book, TW of 1K lbs+ becomes an issue.

There's numbers for both, w/WDH and without. A WDH will typically double carrying amount, if not more.
Thanks man! I'll check it out. None of this is worth it if I hurt someone. Truck has bags, but the hitch looks unused. Must've used them as part of the lift or had a quad or something. Weird ass WV guys...never know.

Anyone have catalytic converter problems? One of mine seems to be coming apart from the inside. Very annoying rattle. Not the heat shield either.

Or hubs issues? I've got one that is starting to make some noise. Wasn't sure if this is a common thing or if I needed to change some other things while in there.

Not me Dave but the little heat shield under my seat was rotting off. Rattled like a bitch at low speed till I wired it up.
