Used Boat Market

It's insane. We were kicking around the idea of selling our 2014 Glastron GTS. Just didn't feel like we were using it enough to justify the cost to dock, store and maintain. So I called the local dealership to ask about consignment fees and what not. I was in a bit of disbelief when they gave me the estimate they could sell it for. I know we got a pretty good deal on the boat. We got it from a couple going through a divorce and settled for $21K. The boat was fully loaded and included vests, tubes, skis, etc. After owning in for 4 years we sold just the boat/trailer for $30K. It sold in 2 days for full asking price. Minus fees we still walked away netting $5K. It's a crazy world....

Yep. I'm in the market but flat refuse to pay 40% over NADA for a boat. I'll wait until this government cheese money runs out. The price of food, fuel and all other commodities are going up and the bubble is going to bust. They'll be begging people to buy their boat and the auction houses will be full of them here soon.

We ordered a boat last October and it isn’t due to be in until the end of July/start of August. We were able to still get the promotional pricing back then, but with the demand/shortage of new boats also I guess they are now getting over MSRP for them. Crazy stuff.

I attempted to order a new pontoon this past spring. I waited a week too long and they quit taking orders. Now I'm in a wait and see mode. Like Joe said, there'll be lots of nice ones in the not so distant future

It's like when colt was charging $1,100 for an AR and you couldn't find one anywhere. A year later they were overflowing the shelves at $699 and they were throwing in 5 magazines and 100 rounds of ammo. 🤣

The Bubble will be bursting shortly. Those with robust cash in hand will be King.

There's a reason lenders are demanding 40-50% down to finance a used boat at a dealer. They know what's coming and want to make sure there's enough equity when they have to reposess and auction these things off.

You might have to wait a while for that to happen. This child tax credit is only going to make it worse.

I got a letter from the IRS about that yesterday. Just crazy. It's actually going in the boat fund. 🤣.

I also see the cost of living going up everywhere though. It's going to get harder and harder to make ends meet even with that money. Vehicles are 30%+, groceries 30%+, fuel 50%+, the freight cost for the online shopping world we live in, parts, and the list goes on. I'm willing to bet some people are going to dump them once the nostalgia wears off or the repair bills are staring them in the face. The trouble will be they're gonna try to get what they paid until reality sets in. We'll see. Hopefully NADA doesn't update their prices to reflect the surge. I'm patient and bring cash so time will tell I guess.

Yeah, it is crazy and is only going to make all these people.more dependant on the government. Financially back all these people into a place that they need the government and will do whatever it takes to keep roof. Sad to watch it all happen really. And those of us being responsible will gain nothing. All these idiots will get a house, vehicle, groceries, phones and whatever else they hand out. While the working man being responsible gets fucked on taxes.
