Walking in tall grass to deer stand

I’ve had to do this before. Worst is when there is a heavy dew or post rain. I just put on my rain gear and sprayed down really well with no-scent type spray. I would hold my gear above my head...wasn’t easy for the long walk it was. I also found the low point where there was some draining...that opened up a small swath.

I would recommend you get there by way of tractor or weed eater. Been there done that. It’s miserable... Till that one day you say fugg this. Being soaked before you ever reach your spot is insane, let alone very uncomfortable.

A nice little path may surprise ya, deer would use it just like you would. More pros than cons adding a path even just a small one.. Good luck.

Just make a path wide enough to get by dry. The deer will probably start using it too. 4 wheeler, tractor or weed wacker.
In years past when we have heavy winters, they will use my path after I break a trail. I learned to cut a path right past my shooting lane and circle around to my stand...

I’ve always found that deer like to bed in tall grass so I try and stay out of it. If it’s not over your head tall, I’ve noticed deer will bed so they can either watch or smell the field. So I stay out of them unless an established trail is made. Just never seemed worth the risk to me.

I guess what I’m trying to say is, is this the only access to the stand or just the straightest? I’d rather take a long walk around then let deer know my approach.

I do realize you said only, just trying to be sure you can’t find another option.

Is it public or private? If private, I’d take in a mower and cut a path in. It’s shoulder high weeds at my place and I keep a mowed path along the edge of the woods. There are always deer tracks on it...they seem to be browsing on the new growth. Like stated earlier, it sucks walking to a stand in dew laden grass and being wet all day. If there is no other way into your stand, I’d definitely get a mower in there.
