With gun season starting tomorrow I am having a battle of what I should carry. My new 400 legend? Dad's leverage action 44 mag? The 870? All guns I've never killed anything with. All mean something for different reasons. A simple solution would very that i have 3 tags left...lol

How about you? What are you carrying this week and does it have any special meaning?

Just came in from the garage after looking in the safe and making my pick. Sticking with my Savage 220 again this year. I have some nostalgic options, but they're all heavy and not a lot of fun to carry. Since we're hunting public land and I'll be walking a lot in pursuit of a slick head, I wanted a lightweight option that I can trust out to 100-150 yards. I love the trigger on any Savage and honestly, that gun may shoulder as nicely as anything I own, so I feel locked in and confident in it when I'm behind it. I may carry my .450 at the farm for the weekend since I'll be stationary, but the 220 gets to hunt opening day.

I'm carrying my 350 legend cva cascade, suppressed. I'm going to be sitting in a blind with my youngest with a buddy heater and other accoutrements to make his day fun. Hunting slickheads for meat only at this point.
It'll reach out as far as I care to shoot from that location. My muzzleloader will await January to come out. I haven't shot my 20 gauge in years and don't knowwhere my slugs are anyway. I could use the 350 my daughter used but I like mine. My 444 Marlin is still awaiting reasonably priced ammunition. The 450 bm i have for my oldest is an AR platform and that metal gets COLD! in this weather.

Hunting by yourself or backing up Levi or your daughter? If by yourself grab the one that will make you smile as you walk in tomorrow morning. Otherwise the one you trust the most to get the job done under potentially less than ideal circumstances.

I will be with Levi and Michael. Doubt I do anything but carry it around.

Dave... I'd carry Dads 44 mag. just for old times sake... Keep the memories alive... Myself I'll be sipping on a nice hot coffee thinking of you guys freezing your ass off... Two day early muzzle loader season starts here in Jersey tomorrow, but I'm passing on it... Then as George stated our gun buck week starts next Monday... Still undecided on that... If I do decide to go, I'll be looking for a bear... And that's iffy as I haven't baited since the dynamic duo was here... If I did go I'd carry the 870 slug gun loaded with 3 inch Accu Tips...

Ruger American .450 it’s light and accurate and they don’t go far after the shot. I’ll be overlooking a creek crossing, where I got my buck in the morning.
Afternoon I’ll be overlooking a cut bean field.
