What kind of feathers are these?

I am guessing one of the owls got this in the backyard. Big pile of feathers, a couple bones and nothing else. Not sure what kind of bird these feathers are from though? Any ideas?:smiley_confused_vra

I'm going to say those are redtail hawk or some other type of hawk's feathers, Ron. Owl feathers actually have "bristles" on the leading edge of them... The bristles (which look like a comb) are what aid in making owls nearly silent when they fly.

I agree with Jim, in that they belong to a hawk. I think maybe a Coopers Hawk. I found one years ago on the road, that was hit by a car. The feathers look very similar to yours.

Whatever it was, it must have got eaten by one of the owls I am guessing.

Glad too see hawks aren't at the top of the food chain around you, they're everywhere around us in mass quantities too....
