Hog hunting help

http://wildlife.ohiodnr.gov/portals/wildlife/pdfs/hunting/feralswinehunting_publicaccess.pdf
Don't know how accurate that is but should help.

They are few and far between up here, and ya'll need to be glad for that! I come from Louisiana where we killed more hogs last year than deer, had hogs take over our family land and the deer hunting will never be the same. Yea they are fun to shoot but I'd trade everyone of them to have our deer back.
I still may try some of those public lands just for the hell of it cause I do enjoy killing them and tend to be a hog magnet.

That being said anyone really wants to kill some and don't mind a road trip may be able to work out a hunt swap La Hogs for OH deer, would love for my grandpa to be able to kill a nice buck. He has one that's nice for the south but would be passed all day long up here.
Or if you'd want info on hitting LA public land plenty options and you'll kill. Just hollar at me

I have been in solid hog territory in SE ohio but it was mixed public private leases. Worked with a Gov researcher who was tracking them to try to pin them down. Lots of sign but never a hog. My guess is they are largely nocturnal and skittish. Plus we just don't have a huge population thank god.

From my experience in southern ohio they roam like nomads. Here one day and gone the same. They may wander back through in a week, month, or year. They're just always on the move.

With 500,000 gun hunters out for deer gun season and somewhat lower numbers during muzzleloader, no one brags about killing one. You would think, somebody could follow tracks in the snow.

I was just in Tar Hollow State Forest this past Saturday and Sunday tracking and hunting hogs with one of my brother in laws. Plenty of sign...they are definately there but the population is largely skiddish and primarily nocturnal. Planning a return trip in July sometime.

Has anyone heard of or seen a hog killed this year? Rumors anything?

I've made a weekend spring hog hunt trip to Zaleski SF the last 3 years, and getting ready for two spring trips this year. I always see sign, have yet to see one, but I know they are there. I'll be heading down March 11-13. Found lodging at lake Hope cheaper than Chillicothe and right next to the area I hunt. Hogs are sparsely populated in Ohio, and difficult to hunt. Often very nocturnal. I will keep hunting until I get one, or am too old, whichever comes first.

Seriously if anyone ever has plans to to vacation in Florida or Texas you can hunt them for $225 flat with no extra fees with 99% success rate! So if you take the family to disney, take an hour trip north kill a hog, scratch it off the bucket list.

I di this 2 years ago in Florida and I was part of the 1%. 8 hours on stand and only saw one piglet. I'm sure most everyone that does these hunts gets a crack at pig but it is not guaranteed.

Im thinking about doing a hunt in Florida, I love hunting new terrain and states, I just can't imagine hunting hog unless its 95 degrees humid and bugs are trying to carry me away. I guess its from hunting them in NC.

I just returned from Zaleski State forest, and a weekend of hog hunting. Again found lost of fresh sign, but no hogs. Watched deer up the wazoo, especially on Friday. Going to try a again in a few weeks.

I'm pretty sure you could go to jail for that...
