Braydon hunted pretty hard for what time we get together. We were on stand most every available moment. He finally got a shot during the Youth Gun Season. Not sure what happened but a 150 class got real lucky that day! He was so close, I believe Braydon just skimmed the bottom of him because of the scope. Brian, Braydon and I spent over 12 hrs total searching to no avail. We did find one of his sheds from the year before and that deer is bigger than we thought.
Fast forward to Saturday of gun season: I wanted to take Brayden in the back to look for a very white racked 8-pointer I have been getting pictures of. Braydon said he would rather go down to his blind because that was his lucky spot. So that's what we did. An hour and a half after being there with no sightings he was getting a little bored. About that time I looked up on the hill and saw movement... then I saw a fairly decent rack rubbing on a licking branch. After what seems like forever he made his way down the hill and across the creek finally. I don't think the deer even got to swallow that first bite of corn Braydon dropped him right in his tracks! Since then I found the matched set of sheds to the buck with the very white rack. So in essence we got them both with a good Prospect for next year! I'm real proud of Braydon for sticking with it when the chips were down he learned a lot about don't give up your season can change on any given minute!
