I don't even think this will make me a metal hat man- but those are the numbers that are shared....who knows if they're true. If the state hedged the numbers just a couple of years until the population was established the monster isn't able to be defeated by the man, just mother nature. They should be eating bark this time of year and are built for this. Just leave them alone so they don't get pushed out of the pines.
Guessing this is at a bait pile and the deer is coming for food. Another instance that humans have messed with nature and created a problem.
