Good shooting Dave!!!

I hung two more stands today and cleared some lanes out abit. They were pretty good shape though. Sure feels good having at least one of the two doubles all done for the girls and me plus the stand I killed Character from is all set to rock and roll! With beans being the crop just 30 away and in the stand in a pinch between a crick and the bedding area I could probably have shot ops at several good to decent deer every year if I can get enough ass time in it. Still have to hunt it smart and get in and out without getting busted but the potential is there.

Just have one double to put back up and another solo then I'm good! Nothing left to do but smoke up my clothes again and launch a few arrahs every so often.

Squirrels are cutting my hickorys bigtime right now! Cuttings all over my yard!lol

This pic was taken from where Character was standing October 21st 2013 approximately at 7:50am. You can see my LW in the tall slender(20" pignut hickory)in the center just above the leaning tree.

Can't wait till my first sit so's I can reflect and enjoy!

I just joined and started reading, I'm getting anxious to check things out as well. I'm going to hunt out of ground blinds this year. We'll see how that works out.

Gave those dang cameras a six day soak. I hate cameras, did I ever mention that? We did not find the one we were looking for yet. Mason claims he isn't shooting anything but that one. I thought maybe seeing a few pics would change his mind, I was wrong. However, here is a pic of one I'd shoot without a second thought...Mason says he will not. I have some cool video of this buck and another 140" ten or so...

Dang nice deer Brock. That boy of yours is ruined. Might as well hand him over to MRex and tell him to change his last name. If he is passing deer at 10-11-12yrs old like this, I am not sure he is in the right house. Something tells me he will change his mind if he sees it from the stand. If not? I give him my respect for pursuing such a lofty target with the attitude he has towards it. You are raising one fine young man ate up with deer for sure!

If he actually passed one of these bucks, I'd kick him out of my house. Until he saw that giant last season, he would make snide comments about people only hunting "mature" deer, "Why? A deer is a deer!". Yeah, well now he is singing a different tune! If we had a pic of the deer already, I might support and help him, but I swear if that kid passes a "good" deer for the hope of a "great" one, I'll turn him over to Mrex fulltime...there would be nothing I could do to help him at that point.

I pulled both cameras today. I don't know if or when I'll put them back out. The amount and quality of video clips that I got absolutley impressed me. In 6 days we got 27 clips. Of course many of the clips are the same deer hanging around long enough for multile vids, but it wasn't set up over minerals or bait, just a trail coming out of a bedding area. Amazing, really. I love the vid setting on that camera, which is a moultrie 880, I think. I've got another hunch where I might get that big sucker if he's still around so I may hang it back up tomorrow. The problem will arise if we actually do find the big one...then we'll have to hunt him, and I've sworn I'd never invest time in one deer again.

Put another cam out yesterday. Saw deerz, turkey, and squirrels. 10% chance of rain yet I still got soaked!! That's alright tho it was a nice walk around the woods. Lots of acorns in the small stand of oaks near one of my stand sites. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1408281355.346181.jpg

Started the apple pile today and pulled cards. Not one buck deer but lots of babies. One set of triplets. It's been many moons since I have seen triplets here

Finally made it up to check out a piece of private ground I have access to. It is 72 acres surrounded by public, with a privately managed farm (240 acres) less than a mile away. There is 50-60 acres of corn 1.2 miles away. This is remote and hard to access. Its vertical acreage and its THICK. We scouted out some terrain features and located two producing persimmons on the narrow ridge spine we walked. Tough, tough access and next to no shooting. But it sits inside 1,200 acres of WNF and this area is known to produce some slungers. We wanted a place to get back to basics and we sure found it today!!! We'll earn anything we kill here.

I pulled cards this weekend, from the looks of things, it's going to be a rough season. Out at my Carrollton property, I saw one buck on film, he may be a year and a half, regardless he gets a pass from me for the next couple years if he lives that long. There were a few does but nothing like the past few years since I bought the property. I've got access to a pretty good sized farm down in Knox County but it's two hours there and two hours back so I don't hunt it a whole lot. I may be down there more than I wanted to be this season though if things don't pick up.
