Had the same doe I shot at on opening day come in with her fawns. Wind is swirling. One whiff and she gone! She's been educated twice now to smoke. Won't happen a 3rd time. I was being nice cause I didn't feel like taking care of a deer.

I am sitting on a new property I got permission to hunt at the end of last year. There's a corn field about 90 yds to my right, thick cover 75 yds to my left. I am sitting near some oaks between the two in the woods. Been slow so far except for the group of hens that came through.

Just had 7 doe come through in bow range. Since the ruts on I should have a big boy following close lol

We didn't hunt today. Spent the afternoon bush hogin' and setting the stand I've had planned for several years. It should be a killer and was well worth taking the night off!

Ended up seeing two bucks. One dink, the other looked decent, but to dark/far to tell what he was. Driving home I almost hit a stud of a buck that crossed the road right in front of me. Definately was a shooter.

Saw 8. Had to climb down early. Apparently you can't wash the China or Cabelas off Under Armour in one wash with baking soda. Got winded more tonight than I have in 3 seasons combined. Finally climbed down after a yearling buck snorted at me. That never happens. Decided to get out of there before the big boy came through and I educated him.

I did. Followed my normal routine. I responded to JD in my journal as he asked the same thing. When I took off the new Cold Gear layers, they still smelled like new clothes. I wasn't overly diligent with the smoke, but it wouldn't have matter I don't think.

I saw my first shooter of the year this morning. He passed by my stand at 15 yards about 10 minutes to early. Then, he came back through, but out in the crp after the fog lifted at about 11am. Always, always stay in stand on a foggy mornning until that fog lifts. I'm sure most of you know that. I'm pretty sure he's a big 8 pt. He has serious mass. I'll be back in his domain tomorrow morning.

Spent almost 4 hours on stand this morning too the tune of 0 deer seen.... Crows, Hawks and a rabbit and that was it..... This is by far the worse start of a season since I've started archery hunting lol..... Oh well, we'll see what happens when/if all this corn comes down lol.... In the mean time I'll keep trudging along lol.... Put a camera on a revitalized mineral site last week and had 2 different doe and a spike and a 2.5 yo 8 point on it.... Even had a red fox hitting it or sniffing it for something too maybe eat lol.... Gotta set that thing back too video again lol...

I had a doe trot across the middle of my back yard with her tail sticking straight up in the air this morning around 8:30. Of course I was in the house and not hunting but at least I saw a deer! lol

Lots of corn getting cut down around here today so they are loosing hundreds of acres of hiding spots as we speak. With the tractors moving and seeing a doe trot across my yard I feel like I have to hunt this evening so we'll se what happens. Still waiting for the corn around my hunting spot to be cut but it won't be long!
