Roll call on who can bring an arm full (or two) of firewood?

I'm good for a few full arm loads and will probably lay hands on some pallet material this week.

I have some spalted maple...hickory....red oak and cherry. Let me know what you want. It is all split except some of the cherry.

Might want to look into turning spalted wood. It's caused by a fungi and normally weakens/softens the wood. Hints the discoloration. Makes for some damn good looking wood, just not sure how well it'd work for your purpose.

I was thinking the same thing. The spalting isn't throughout. You could turn it and not have any spalting on the tip.

Yeah, the spalting comes from the sugar in the maple (sugar maples) turning.

Eventually I'd like to turn some bowls, spalted maple would look nice. I'll mess with it, might be able to get a few cool looking strikers that sound good also.
