I think a "true diehard " would know there is no crystal ball... go hunt, see what happens.

Yeah, you're probably right.

How silly of me to say such a thing.

Oh-well

Live-n-learn I suppose...

I guess it wasn't TOO fun for some.

However, I surely enjoyed the thread and those that part took in it . Many shared some good stuff and I appreciate that very much.

We all have different work and family schedules. Some have exclusive hunting at a real "honey hole". Others have a couple 5-10acre wood lots shared with 3 others. Every part of the state is a bit different. Pretty tough for some of us to "call our shots." I hunt 3 properties. My work schedule is all over the map. My kids' schedules are crazy busy. My wife has rotating days to work. I am fluid on where I hunt. Winds, what I am seeing road scouting/trail cameras, cold fronts, etc all dictate whether I am going to hunt or not. . . .IF I can even break loose to hunt. Success is determined by many variables: Time available to hunt, how much time you put into the stands, proper conditions, and of course the big one. . . is there even a buck worth killing in the area??!!!???

I'm not anywhere close to an expert. I have never had a deer on a predictable pattern. No chance I am predicting I will kill one at all let alone a window of time when I will do it.

There was a young 12 point running around last season. I saw him a few times and I let him walk in late January. That sumbitch better walk by me the morning of November 16 with is tongue hanging out and love on his mind.

He hasn't appeared on camera this summer yet. But he's there... I know he's there.

So there's my prediction... November 16 in the a.m. the 12 point will get a slick trick to the boiler. Looks like I need to take a personal day on the 16th!

Like playing the lottery, pick some numbers or don’t play.

I’m also going to predict that I’m going to break the 200 lb Mark finally this year. Been a goal/dream of mine since I was a kid.

First buck I ever killed went 192 dressed and my uncles and old man picked on me for it being so close to 200...still have yet to kill one heavier. This is the year it happens. On a ML deer hunt drive with my TOO crew!

I'll sit from the warmth of fall through the cold of winter and shoot nothing. Haven't shot anything in 2 years (my choice) and haven't yet seen anything on camera that would change that, but you never know, that's why I'll sit. My son will be up for the gun opener and he just got a new freezer, he'll take something on the opener.

In that case I can predict FOR CERTAIN on Oct 27th at roughly 3 PM you'll be woofing down a slice or two of Casey's pizza in Mt. STERLING Illinois....

I know I'll shoot at least two dozen booners this year. 100% positive of it. I've already shot two in the last month. I kill the big boys in my dreams. About the only time I have dreams is around deer season...

After a cam check yesterday it's evident that I have a lot of homework left to do on this new property. Not being allowed to bait makes doing inventory much harder. Just gonna keep bouncing around watching trails with cams until I find what I'm after. Once scrapes open this will get easier.

My prediction is just like last season. I'll enjoy hunting natural deer movements, learn some more about the property, and pass a few bucks in the 130s that don't tip my teakettle.

Do you have any patches of wild cherry trees? They are starting to drop now and deer love those things. I have in years with no apples used them to help check inventory. They really like them were they drop onto a logging road or cleared ground area where they can lick them up easily. They will even eat them off the road surface on a back road.

Boy, this thread took off some...

Well I hope all of you gentlemen knock down your dream buck this year regardless of when.

Speculating a little and having a healthy imagination is not always a bad thing in my book!

Thanks sharing crew!
