That’s how it looked to me anyways. I don’t know shit about these bows, but I can read a person.

Getting back into the swing of things now that my finger is healed up. Shot decent today. Still a touch high for what I like. (A problem I have as target shows) Left shot is from pulling tab hand out during release and low shot is dropping bow arm...I think.

Less than two months, gotta get stuff straight.

Back at it today. Here’s the cold shot:

Played “around the world” when I was shooting today, each target got 2 arrows. Deer remained fixed but each round I kicked the tennis ball around. Got me holding for different unknown yardages and made it more exciting.

The last round I put two in targets kill area on deer target, would like a little better hit. Then put one in a tennis ball and made it fly, while the others landed around the balls.

Something you guys may want to try; shoot a light poundage bow. I bought a bow from Mason last week. It’s a gorgeous older Howatt. 40lb draw and is currently my favorite bow to shoot. Shooting the light poundage allows me to fix issues that have crept into my shooting over the years. Once upon a time I shot a 69lb Assenheimer exceptionally well. Now I’m sloppy shooting 50-60 lb bows, but with the light bow I’m able to work on those things I don’t like. I’m certain it will help with my heavier bows.

Finally getting in some shooting from the treestand.Been throwing tennis balls out at random distances and the deer target was at 23 yards.
Have not shot as much as i would like this Summer but have been shooting really well.
Ready for season to roll in!

Ok I've been following this thread and the cold shot thread for a while now and been bitching about my bow being to high of poundage for me to shoot but it is what I have so I go out to the shed this morning and string it up. I check the brace and it's at seven and a half inches then walk the target out to ten yards and shoot three arrows. I'm like why the fuck haven't I been shooting this thing lol? It's a bitch to pull but I'll just have to get stronger and keep shooting.

My arrow with broadhead total weight this year is 607 grains,shooting a 190 grain Simmons bh with 50 gr brass insert,they should pack a punch.
I also put a clicker on my bow this Summer and it has really helped me be more consistent.
My groups have really tightened up and have gotten really good at longer distances.
I really feel more confident in my shooting this year than i ever have but we know how that can all fall apart when crunch time is upon us and that big buck steps out.Lol

Good stuff Brian. I've been contemplating trying a clicker as well. I've heard very good things about them. Seems one would really help keep one's draw length consistent from shot to shot.

Had a quick practice session when I got home from work and it went really well. Really starting to dial it in as bow season approaches. I think it will only get better when my new string comes in and I can install my clicker.

First 5 from 15 yds:

Next five were from 20 yards. I pushed that one with the AAE trad vanes.

Next round from 20 again. Classic example of a short draw on my last arrow (low). Elevation on my other 4 was perfect, but the incorrect amount of draw and back tension on that last arrow dropped it below the kill zone. Hoping the clicker as a draw check tool will help reduce these occurrences.

Next 5 shots at 40 yds. 3/5 hits ain't bad. Lol

And then finally, one of my favorite ways to practice, 5 shots from 5 different angles and yardages... Closest being 14 yds, longest being 40 yds.

Went and shot with Brian about a week or so ago to get clicker set up. After we set it up I was making the clicker double click letting me know that I was getting to full draw then letting up and repeat. Turns out I was short changing draw and it was negatively impacting shooting.

I’m starting to get used to the clicker and new draw length a little bit I’m shooting pretty good. No more double clicks. I get to full draw, pick a spot, and release. It is much more fluid. It seems, for now, that something has clicked. I’m not sure how to describe it but I am rolling shoulders back and getting to full draw much easier and much smoother.

This is the last group I shot today. You can see when I had the “ah-ha” moment. Hung it up after that. Will see how it goes tomorrow. Still shooting 15 yards or under for now. Will just have to get in close.

Been really busy lately but still finding time to shoot out of the stand alot with a broadhead followed up with fieldtips.
Also have the broadheads all sharpened up...just waiting on season to get here to see what buck might walk by and trip my trigger.

Well I finally crept into the traditional thing. Mike let me borrow one of his extra bows and a few arrows to play with. I flat out suck, LOL. 10 yards and I can hit the vitals somewhat consistently. Got cocky too soon, shot a group at 20 yards and had to go swimming in the pond to find one of Mike's arrows. This is going to be a long journey!
