Before I do, I want to see what you guys have! We’ve had two full size labs for a couple of years now and I’m tired of looking at the plastic crates.

I have a couple of ideas in mind. I would like to see what you have. I think it was Jesse that had something like what I’m thinking.

This is our current set up.

Thinking something closer to this. Made with cedar walls and floor, black walnut top. Couple of coyote pelts laying on it with some sheds and a dead head.

Whatcha got?

P.S. I still think TOO needs a dog section...

The other idea was a bench style kennel for the dinning room. But I don’t want to smell stinky old labs while trying to eat. So I’m trying to talk her outa that idea. I don’t mind building her a bench for the dinning room table if that’s what she wants.

We just used the all-wire kennels for in the house. I've got a big one in the bedroom corner so no one usually sees it but us. I only use my plastic crates for road trips.

If I were trying to "dress something up," I'd just use of the wire kennels and build a frame/trim around it. But I can't see myself ever doing it. As soon as I make it look nice and put a top on it, it'll just become another spot in the house for junk to collect on top of.

That’s another part of it, I need a place to pile some things I have in the basement.

Bout to build one myself. Like the example you showed with 3 sections and the top will be a workbench since it'll be in the garage. Using horse panel, 4x4s, and a nice plywood top. Floor will be the heat duty truck bed mats.

I like what you have as an example. We just have a wire kennel in the house and hardly ever shut the door. Pearl prefers to sleep in it or the chair in the den.

Giles, the wood one you posted looks very nice. I would make it so the top is removable though so you can easily clean it out. We have the wire cages at camp and they look better than the crates, but not near as nice as that wood one.

Thinking drawers or a flip up lid for storage. It will have multiple doors in it for cleaning out.

I am just thinking that getting in from the top would make easier cleaning if for example a dog got sick in it. Even if you had to take out a dozen screws or so. I think you could still have the flip up lid for storage or drawers, but just have the entire top removable.

That makes sense👍🏼.

I was thinking plastic trays and dog beds. But we all know that won’t catch everything. I like it!
