Went out for about an hour today letting him chase the deer, Turkeys, and coyotes. All the bucks were still holding both sides.

So you think guernsey county, majority will all dropped by March? I mean it seems to me like a lot of the younger bucks I’ve had on camera have already started to dropOnly the fields and fence rows early as to not bump the deer out of the beds and area before the majority drop. Only if you know for certain a highly regarded target buck has dropped both sides and you have accurate intel of an area/bed they might be laying would I chance it to look in thickets in or around bedding but look quick but thouroughly then eliminate it and go back later. The majority of sheds hit the ground in early March and April here in the SW part of the state. Northern and SE seem to drop sooner. Many in my area carry up till greenup...

A lot of variables determine how early they drop imo. Stress, injury, over all health and reduction in testosterone are among the most notable. If you have a lot of bucks in your area naturally you’ll find more sheds. There’s usually no rhyme or reason why and when a deer throws a shed. Some deer have been known to go weeks or months from dropping the first one before casting the second one so you if you find both laying close by then you’ve been anointed “the man” by the shed gods!
Lots of avid shed hunters here so just continue to throw out questions if you have them.
Also, overcast days are BEST for me anyway to pick out sheds in the brush, corn stubble or woods. On sunny days walk with the sun at your back or you can walk with it to your left and look to your right or visaversa. GOOD LUCK and have fun!
Oh, March is peak drop in most areas but many have walked miles by then so unless you are sole shed hunter on the properties you are allowed to shed hunt on you might be finding more boot tracks than sheds. I also like freshies with no gnawing damage so I get out sooner rather than later.

I enjoy it a lot but I use it more as a scouting tool anymore. Trails, scrapes, rubs, etc. from this past season teach you so much about the places you hunt.
Saw deer at the farm today still holding but did come across this one.

Nice pickup Brian! I may hit some fields this weekend just to get out and get any early ones before others do.
Great way to get exercise and scout. Shed hunting was a big reason I landed in the spot that I got my buck in this year.

I'm on the board as of Tuesday. Spotted Monday. Didn't want to venture over towards bedding on my way in to hunt. Walked it on the way out Tuesday night. I think it dropped late or was drug out by coyotes. Looks like tractor ran it over when picking beans or when planting cover crop.

First of 2021 - was helping the neighbor setting beaver traps, it was laying right on the dam... too easy! It had already been chewed really bad..
