Like Adam, I had to open a storage tote in the basement that hasn’t seen light in several years. What a trip down memory lane.
The picture of me in glasses is a funny story. I was scheduled to start on the mound that afternoon against one of our conference rivals. It was a big game. I don’t remember who had what record going into that game, but it was a big one.
@Bigcountry40 if you remember, Matt Maloney was on that team. He got one of their few hits against me that game, sending a line drive up the middle at Mach 7, almost taking my head clean off. Anyway, earlier that morning while in class, one of my contact lenses ripped. Knowing full well that it was my very last pair of lenses, I was in full panic mode. Thankfully I still had a pair of eyeglasses from 5th grade that I held on to. They barely fit my head, and I could barely see anything. I couldn’t even see the signs from my catcher. He fought for his life back there all game as I tried to decipher his inside leg taps.
. Got the win, hit a homerun that bounced off of Route 6, and had a go ahead sac fly. Not too shabby for a half-blind kid.
(Disregard the cheesy sticker… mom made the scrapbook, not me. Lol)
