That's great! I have to drive an hour to my spot. I've searched all my nearby woods for years without finding them.

Got out this morning & found some Icshnoderma (steak of the woods).

The first few are amanitas, poisonous, next 3 are as stated, chickens, very old & very young, next one not sure & the last one is honeys, edible with caution.

Sometimes some will grow back & give you more soft edges to trim off. Check them in a week & you might be surprised.

I usually just trim off the soft edges. As you get closer to the wood it's harder to cut through & not as good on the plate. Yours looks pretty fresh so you can just cut off at the base. You can cook them any way you cook chicken. Our favorite is to cut in strips. Four/egg wash & bread crumbs...
