    2025 EHD?

My dad dropped his deer (his first archery deer, 8-pointer) off at a processor in the Athens/Washington county area. He was told by the owner they hadn't even hit 100 deer processed so far this year.

    My stupid pet peeves.

Oh my gosh, there was an annoying one at a station I used to use a lot close to our last house. It was some "celebrity" who kept saying "try my banana coffee smoothie!" I was so sick of hearing about her damn smoothie.

    11-9-25 buck down

About 10 years ago, a property I had always hunted with a friend suddenly became off-limits when leasing started there. No hard feelings on my part, I knew the "business" aspect of it and 100% understood what was going on. That left me with no private land access until one of my wife's coworkers...

    November 9th blood

I had a feeling the unique arrow would give me away. I swap bows often and actually shot this one with my Stalker Wolverine. I had a few better bucks on camera but my trigger is easily tripped. A very manageable shot from the blind at this deer was too much for me to resist. First deer at the...

Sit 2 My second trip to the blind was less planned. I ended up with some free time after work because the kid had basketball practice that my wife was taking him to. I was going to miss it with work, anyway, so I got home with a favorable wind and went for it. I could hear deer below me chasing...

    Creamer's 25/26 Season Journal

Sit 1 On my first sit as home owner here I made the decision to carry the cheap budget bow. Shortly after I snapped this pic I got around the corner of the out building and the two fawns (one doe, one BB) were right there. They are practically tame, and I'm half surprised they didn't follow me...

    Creamer's 25/26 Season Journal

I have been taking it pretty slow as far as getting into the woods. I have made two sits so far, both just in the corner field blind that I can get in/out of with very minimal disturbance. I have a couple of stands in traditionally good rut locations I plan to sit soon here. Bottom line, as far...

    2025 EHD?

We got a decent frost just outside Athens this morning.

    2025 EHD?

35 degrees in the hills near Athens this morning. I want to see that first frost so badly to know this junk is over for the year.

    Flies

I googled fly strike since I didn't know what it was...now I'm wishing I still didn't. Our fly bag traps were basically full in 4 days (2 bags on our deck). I tossed them and bought a reusable/refillable trap from Rescue. It's already catching them in large numbers in the first 24 hours.

Listed at 45@28". I have no scale but it feels about right and the arrows I shoot from my other bows of similar weight shoot fine from it. I draw closer to 29" and it definitely stacks a bit in that last 1-1.5". Nothing I can't shoot through, but the tail end of the draw is not great compared to...

    Flies

This is our first year at this house, but the last house was only about 8-9 miles away so it's not like a really new area. We had one random year at the last house that was similar to this. Now I wish I could remember if it was a bad EHD year.

    2025 EHD?

That's my current approach, as well. I've decided I'm not shooting a doe for sure until after we've had a frost and see where things stand. Got some bucks on camera I'd love to stick but I'm not blowing stuff out right now with this hot weather. It's a marathon, not a sprint.

This doesn't have to be expensive

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love the Black Widow I've been shooting for the past couple of years. I shoot it great and I feel it was worth every cent that it cost. The one catch, I can't shoot it out of all of my ground blinds. It's a 62" bow and I shoot with a near vertical bow. In a...
