    Random weather thread

I jumped in the Atlantic on New Year's Day in North Carolina. That was my cold reset.

@bowhunter1023 the Hocking is (I'm guesstimating) 80% frozen over right now around Athens. Definitely the most iced up I've seen it in several years. Only the areas with fast current are still open. And it ain't going away anytime soon.

    cold shot

Alright, gentlemen. Who's still out there slinging? I'm still making time for at least a few arrows a day. These past few days, when that wind has been blowing, I don't last long! Apparently I'm not built for arctic weather. I sort of keyed in on a form thing with my hook on the string that has...

    Creamer's 25/26 Season Journal

I was shooting my Widow out back a few nights ago and coyotes started howling in this circled area on the next point over from our place. The next evening, I tried to go call for a bit. It was so windy I figured it was probably not going to happen unless they were really close when I started...

    2025 EHD?

The snow being on is helping to spot deer from the road right now. I had a good sized group not far from home across our road yesterday, I saw at least 6. Lot of bodies down there tightly together. I'm seeing some does (or at least antlerless deer) between home and work. A few days ago I was...

Had -4 at our place outside Athens this morning, also. A coworker said the OU airport (or as I call it, Albany International) had -7.

To this day, every time I see French toast with powdered sugar, I think of this movie.

The places a deer will live

They like to lay in the flower beds along that little park/pond in that area, too.

The places a deer will live

Living near town and working in Athens, I've seen some weird places deer will chose to call home. People who aren't on campus much would never believe how many deer live right in town. Cemeteries, between houses, by baseball fields, a strip of woods along the bike path that's all of 10 yards...

    Creamer's 25/26 Season Journal

Absolutely. He's a 6x6 this year. Not very wide but lots of potential. I'd love it if he could just add a little mass next year. I'll be a lot more selective next year on a buck here. There should be some good ones around, assuming they make it to next season.

    Creamer's 25/26 Season Journal

I had high hopes this deer would make it through the season, I think he should be really good next year. He disappeared for over a month, zero photos. I wasn't sure if he made it, but in the last week he has reappeared. And later that night, after having been back for just a few days...

    2025 EHD?

My dad dropped his deer (his first archery deer, 8-pointer) off at a processor in the Athens/Washington county area. He was told by the owner they hadn't even hit 100 deer processed so far this year.

    My stupid pet peeves.

Oh my gosh, there was an annoying one at a station I used to use a lot close to our last house. It was some "celebrity" who kept saying "try my banana coffee smoothie!" I was so sick of hearing about her damn smoothie.

    11-9-25 buck down

About 10 years ago, a property I had always hunted with a friend suddenly became off-limits when leasing started there. No hard feelings on my part, I knew the "business" aspect of it and 100% understood what was going on. That left me with no private land access until one of my wife's coworkers...

    November 9th blood

I had a feeling the unique arrow would give me away. I swap bows often and actually shot this one with my Stalker Wolverine. I had a few better bucks on camera but my trigger is easily tripped. A very manageable shot from the blind at this deer was too much for me to resist. First deer at the...
