    cold shot

I'm really digging these VPA heads. Ready to send one at an animal. Cold shot last night, broadhead from 18.

What broadheads do you plan to shoot this fall?

Instead of starting a new thread I'll resurrect this one. What are ya'll slinging this fall? I've been shooting a lot this past month since getting all of my targets back out. I still have plenty of the Crimson Talon Cleaver's (single bevel 2 blade) but I've had the itch to go back to a 3-blade...

    Life update

They're out there temporarily. I've been working to get things moved around in the basement to make room for them. They have been out there only out of necessity. They'll be back inside soon!

    Life update

My inner weather nerd is rejoicing. I've wanted to buy one of the fancy weather stations for a long time. I can access this one through my phone from anywhere and see historical data from the station. I think it's going to be handy to track wind/deer movement patterns. And now that I have a rain...

    What a "hunt"

So there we were, eating dinner in the house on Saturday, when I glanced out the window and spotted a coyote at the top of our (long) driveway. Where it crossed into the trees we have been seeing about 90 rabbits a day, so not surprising that we see one there. I kept an eye out for a few more...

    What's For Dinner?

I don't know if ya'll see as many recipe videos on social media as I do, or if it's just a fat guy thing and the algorithm has me pegged. I kept seeing this recipe for "Brazilian lemonade." I love citrus, and was intrigued by how easy this would be to try. Funny thing, it uses limes instead of...

    Clinton county giant?

Listening to the warden's story, they had him pegged for a while.

Once in a lifetime Cicada event

It's so weird to me how confined the areas are that have them right now. I have a buddy in Gallipolis who says they are everywhere and deafening outside. Up here in Athens, nada. Nothing. We shouldn't get the next 17 year emergence here for several more years. We had them when our son was born...

    Life update

I've got one camera out right now over some mineral I got started. I got does on it almost immediately (within 90 minutes of me leaving), bucks are starting to use it. Nothing huge, this is the best one so far. It's a lot of fun seeing turkeys again. Our son is really excited to try to hunt...

    Life update

A lot has been happening in my family's little world. Starting almost two years ago, we began house hunting a bit. We saw a few places we liked, some we didn't, got outbid on one...then something interesting happened. I have been hunting the property of a family friend (and my wife's former...

    Random weather thread

I keep a pretty close eye on the Hocking River USGS gauge for fishing. Last year was the worst year for low water levels that I recall from the past 20ish years. That's not precise science, just my recollection. What is really weird to me is that we typically would see good fishing levels on the...

    Random weather thread

It was spitting snow in Athens this morning for a few minutes. And I think it's supposed to be colder tonight. 🥶

    Random weather thread

I lived for a little over 3 years on Harmony Rd just outside Athens. I do not miss eyeing flood gauges every time the river came up. A few times that it got really bad we had to park all the way out by 32 and hoof it thru the woods between the cabin and where we could park. Miserable.

    Random weather thread

The wind was freaky weird at our place near Athens. Tornado warning on my phone woke us up around 3AM. I'm not sure what app my wife was using (it was 3AM, I wasn't functioning 100%) but it said a tornado had touched in Wellston, then another near Albany. That was tracking right at us. We got...

    Official TOO Catch Thread

All of you Lake Erie people, know in the nicest of ways how much I hate you all. I'm just insanely jealous of all of the opportunities you have in your back yard.
