Phew! 30lb'ers are hard to come by but not impossible, they're definitely a bunch out there.

In Louisiana, you can bait any area but in order to actually hunt it, you must clear the area of all "bait" and the area cannot be hunted for 2 weeks after clean up. Or something like that...it's hard to remember all these rules.

I'd definitely take some time to learn a mouth call. It doesn't take as long as you might think. Once you get to the point where you're able to make any sound with it, that's when you start to understand how it works. That's when you can start to fine-tune your sound. Don't worry about purring...

I disagree. If turkey hunting somehow comes to the point of "Stealth Turkey Assassins" (STA? Sounds pretty good), then I'll love this sport even more. Like deer hunting, shooting the first deer you see of the season is like calling one right off the roost and getting an easy kill. That's fine...
