Yes the big gaps pick up and sling rocks. That's just them clearing hard mud...For soft snow you need tread depth and for packed snow and ice you need sipes. The sipes can be added by a siping tool as well. I would think the Nokian Outpost nAT's would perform quite well in southern Ohio.
