    Flint arrow heads

I have a relative who is downsizing and has stuff to sell. I had these appraised because we had no idea of the value. The appraiser said on average a point is $5. So these would be in the neighborhood of $350 each. Asking $300 but willing to make a deal. I drive all over this state for my...

    Sportsmen's Input Needed

This state isn’t perfect but it’s pretty good. I would not make any major changes. I would open bobcat season. No closed season on coons. Ban baiting. No fall turkey until the population rebounds.

Marijuana cultivation for personal use, Tactics, Techniques and Procedures (TTP)'s

If you can grow a tomato you can grow weed. If you can get clones it is better than seeds. At least that was the case back in college. Nowadays I hear things about feminized seeds but I don’t know how that works. I’m going back to the my youth this year and grow some.

I have met the enemy and they are us

Anyone who wants more turkeys should trap. I have found destroyed nest for the last 5-6 years straight. How many are destroyed that I don’t find? Most of the time it’s just broken eggs but sometimes there is a pile of feathers left. Dog proof traps right before nesting season and kill every...

    Hard to find bourbons...

This is the second annual bourbon raffle for Milford Band Boosters. If anyone on here wins, I’d be happy to drive some distance to deliver. I’m in Cincy so if you are in cleveland we would need to meet somewhere. https://rafflecreator.com/pages/68465/2024-milford-band-boosters-bourbon-raffle

What to make of this buck?

A buck will shed antlers early if he is in poor health. Wounds from cars or hunters can cause it or rut exhaustion. I’ve seen skinny bucks accidentally shot as a doe during muzzy season. They had no body fat and no antlers.

Does It Make a Difference When You Shoot Does?

I try to bow kill a doe early. I have rules for it. I try to shoot a lone doe in an easy access area. Nothing too deep into the woods so recovering is less disturbing. My doe this year damn near ran into my yard before she fell. No disturbance at all. I was seeing more bucks before peak...

    NOT burning out a location

In my experience one hunt, two tops then you need to let it rest for many days if not weeks. A good cold front can change that but I’m in the south part of the state. Erie area is probably much better.

Which apples and where to get them

I started with 8 trees from N Whitetail Crabs planted spring of 22. I’m very happy with their growth. I bought M111 rootstock this year and grafted a combination of crabs and people apples. Instead of babying them in pots I planted and caged them in their final spot this spring. So far I ran...

    Turkey Article

I’m a believer in no closed season on coons. Sometimes a landowner needs to do what is right instead of what the state says.
