    The long day buck...

"The long day buck" Down to 3 of 8 We had a death in the family and had to drive down to Scioto County and were stopping off in Jackson county to visit family while passing through. On the way, I got a call at about 10:30 AM from a hunter needing a dog up in Darke County. His account of the...

    3 of 7 recovered

"The Bittersweet Buck" This one drops us down to 3 of 7 recovered. The hunter found us on the UBT website and gave us a call last night. The arrow had almost no blood on it and other than a small spot about 4 feet up a tree where the giant bodied brute ran into it, there was no blood to be...

3 of 6 for the year!

Thank you. He said the deer was quartering away. I didn't see the entry would because it was on the bottom and the coyotes had eaten a lot, so I couldn't see the exit, but I believe it was one lung and liver and exited pretty far back. Thanks for the feedback, I'll add that next time. I have...

3 of 6 for the year!

Had another successful track this morning up in Darke County. We arrived at the 15 hour mark and walked back to the hit site and Finley immediately jumped on the track heading toward the hunters last blood. When we got there, she had a little bit of trouble deciphering which direction to go and...

    2 of 5,....kinda

Amazingly resilient creatures with an amazing will to live! My low estimate on distance was about 350 yards, but since I forgot to turn on my GPS I'm just calling it "a few hundred".

    2 of 5,....kinda

It was quartering away. He didn't say what was hit after cleaning it. It ended up going a few hundred yards.

    2 of 5,....kinda

It was a pretty good shot. Here's a pic. It was quartering away and this is the entry. He thought it may have been gut with possibly a single lung.

    2 of 5,....kinda

I was in my pajamas and just getting ready to hit the hay when I spoke to the hunter about his need for a dog about an hour away. From listening to his account of the shot and deer reaction, along with the pictures of the blood, we decided to take on the track. The only issue was that if was...

Were on the boards with a big Darke county doe!

Absolutely! I'm taking every track I can get regardless of how it sounds over the phone!

2 up and 2 down so far

I bet you did, I saw it too. Very good dude and did everything he could to find it. We figured it was alive or the coyotes ran it into the next county.

Woohoo! Just got confirmation of life on my second track, so I'll call that a win!

Yep. I tried uploading a pic but it was too large. Story of my life lol

Were on the boards with a big Darke county doe!

We're finally on the boards with a nice doe out of Darke County. We got a call last night that a doe had been shot a little before 7pm and they were confident it was gut shot. Initially we had planned on coming up around 3-4 pm but after I got off the phone I kept thinking about him saying he...

2 up and 2 down so far

0 for 2 for the season. I spoke to a hunter last night for a small buck that was shot yesterday at about 6pm and all indicators said this wasn't a dead deer, but you never know and we made plans to meet this morning to give it a go. Drove about an hour and get there at 8:00 and we had a mile...

1 up and 1 down in the first inning.

Yes sir! Same here. I'll take them all, even if there's low likelihood of recovery. However I'm going to start limiting my tracks to under 60 degree temps. This poor black dog can't take the heat especially if it's in direct sun. She damn near stroked out on me with the miles we put in.

1 up and 1 down in the first inning.

Thanks for that. At this time, I'm taking every track I can physically go to regardless of what it sounds like on the phone or pictures. We love doing it and know that without screening success rates will be lower. I have a processor that saves blood for me and have a freezer full along with...
