If light recoil is important 223 or 22-250 would be the way to go. I personally favor the 25-06 for everything from ground hogs to black bear and elk. But the 25-06 might recoil a little too much for your tastes depending upon the weight of the rifle. The .243 would also be a good choice for you because it offers more possablities but the recoil isnt as harsh.
