2014 turkeys

I was rather concerned since I haven't seen any turkeys after these hard snows we had.
Well the fear is gone. I had over 60 turkeys in one flock this morning in my front yard. The little buggers don't stop moving for a good count and there was more in the brush.
Good to see they are well and healthy.




15 minutes later there are 4 deer watching the turkeys in the brush. Good day in the country.

I'm jealous. I haven't seen any turkeys in the area I am hunting. Looks like I will be hunting my lease in Illinois this spring.

Update. At 9:30AM today I'm making coffee and look out the window and the whole flock is walking across my back yard. They must have seen me as they were walking towards the brush line and gone before I could get the camera.
Several of the long beards Toms were strutting and displaying. Neat.
I plan on a video turkey hunt this year.

Hell it's even sorta of my 70th birthday today since I was born on Leap Year. I had planned on a coyote hunt but have to help out with a order for my son. maybe tonight.

We saw a heck of a nice flock while shed hunting today. I guessed there were 40, Mason said 60. I'm sure the truth is somewhere in there. Won't be long now!
