I'm going to Maine on a black bear hunt this year. I just saw where the area I am going to just had a new record snow fall, 29" in 24 hours! Unbelievable!

As of right now I am taking my 12 ga. with rifled slugs but if I can get confident enough with the bow I just got I won't hesitate to take it. I can't wait the trip has been on my list for a long time.

Where you actually going and what's it gonna cost (if you don't mind me askin') Been thinkin' about this quite a bit.
I'm going with an outfitter by the name of Orion Outfitters and they are in Bethel Maine. Bethel is in west central Maine and about 1 hour from Portland, where I will be flying into. The total cost of the trip is gonna be right around $3000.00 and that includes everything. The actual hunt is $1200.00 for seven days and that includes food and lodging and a guaranteed active bait sight, either a tree stand or ground blind, whichever you prefer. The rest of the $3000.00 is miscellaneous stuff like airline ticket, license and bear tag, estimated cost of getting the bear back home and this, that and the other thing.

I've know a few people who have gone to Maine for bear. They have always gotten nice bears. Good luck.
