I found this email that I received moments ago to be rather interesting during a time of economic hardship for so many ( several small business have shut down for good recently within our own local town).

I felt that this information is worth sharing if you aren't already aware.

The interactive map of agencies is worth a peek,.

AG Yost Announces Body Armor Grants to Local Law Enforcement Will Continue

Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost is pleased to announce the expansion of the Ohio Law Enforcement Body Armor Program with $3.5 million in funding for fiscal year 2021. Law enforcement agencies are able to apply for grants that will reimburse 75% of the cost of body armor vests.

The program is administered by the Ohio Attorney General’s Office with funding for the program provided by the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation as part of its Safety Intervention Grant Program. In its first two years, the program awarded grants exceeding $5.4 million to 525 local law enforcement agencies in all 88 Ohio counties. With their 25% local match, each agency can receive up to $40,000 from the program.

Agencies that have applied in the past and have not yet met the $40,000 limit may apply again. The application is available on the Ohio Law Enforcement Gateway (OHLEG).

An interactive map of agencies that received funding in the first two years of the program, and the amounts awarded, can be found at OhioAttorneyGeneral.gov/BodyArmorGrants.

For more information about the program, please contact OhioLEBodyArmor@ohioattorneygeneral.gov.

Most of, if not all that money comes from federal grants that are earmarked for that purpose when the year’s fiscal budget is signed. So last October that was earmarked.

Thanks “J” for bringing me back up to speed. I should have known that, but it has been years since I worked for the government.

And trust me, I would NOT want anyone to think that I am anti-police because I am NOT. I donate annually to the OSP nearly every year when they have their fund drives, and the local fire department too.

The fact of the matter is that many small businesses are closing their doors around here and it is sad. A couple them were staples of the town for many, many years, if not decades.

One of them was a family hamburger joint that my wife absolutely loved. We ordered carryout from them just last week, right before they shut down for good.

The ‘Golden Corral’ closed for good, and the brand new ‘Tumbleweed’ that just opened for business last year closed also.

My two closets neighbors are small business owners and operators and have been for many years, both closed for good now. In fact, one of them is selling their beautiful home without utilizing a realtor.

Our local pet store closed its doors for good last week. Wife grabbed over $900 bucks of pet goods, markdown 1/2 price on their last day of business.

Many of the store front stores in the old middle part of town are either closed or are advertising "going out business" signs in their windows.

It is a sad situation happening in our community just over the recent weeks.

Anyhow, appreciate you pointing that out, thanks!

Understand, wasn’t calling you out on anything, and I was a federal employee for 30 plus years and saw shit that’d make just raise your hands and say WTF???? So I completely understand when people see this and get frustrated. But this system is so fractured and almost too the point of unfixable because of lifelong bureaucrats.....
