buying a diesel

When the engine goes in my 05 Colorado I'm sticking a Japanese diesel in it. Complete with dual stacks! lmao

Joe, how's that rhino lining holding up on the floor boards??? What size diesel would fit in that thing??? Without sagging it until the bumpers dragging the ground lol...

Holding up good. Some wear in places where my feet rest but a little touch up is all that's needed there. Your feet will be a bit colder in the winter if you turn the heat off due to no insulation or carpet, but it's not noticeable with the heater on.

As for the diesel, Isuzu makes plenty of small 3.0-3.5 L diesel engines that will fit. All those little trucks and stuff have diesels in them and lots of people make adapter kits so you can put a GM transmission on them. I've also seen people with 24V cummins in them.. Chevy sold the colly to Isuzu and I've actually seen one already.

I know a mechanic that put an Isuzu in a beater s10 and then burnt a blend of used oil in...crazy but a diesel in a small truck would be sweet (and efficient)...they make small diesels for Jeep Liberties (rare) and those diesel Jetta's too

yea if you look on youtube, you can see where guys have put small diesels in all sorts of stuff. Minivans, doing huge powerbreaks. Cool to watch, but seems like a waste of money in a minivan hahahah

Drive the chevy you got till the wheels fall off. And dont buy a toyota.

I second this.....AT, do a search, lots of discussion on this.

Essentially all of the points have been made. If you have the cash and are doing it for the coolness factor than by all means step into the diesel relm. You think hunting is addictive and expensive....just wait! If you're $ smart and are not pulling heavy (7500-8K) 2-3 times a week, you're better off with a gasser. This is both by cost of fuel, and cost of maintenance. Either way, don't buy a darn Yota...

The OEM's are missing a huge market opportunity in many people's book. They all keep talking about 1/2 tons with diesels, but no one will step into the arena (in the US). I would buy into a Mini-Max 2-3 years after the program launches.
