cold shot

First four of the morning from 25. I didn’t improve as the session went on. 😀

I'm mildly embarrassed to admit it, but I'm not an arrow guy, meaning I don't have dozens of arrows for each setup I own. I started shooting the Widow last year and had SIX (didn't even buy a full dozen) arrows built for that bow. I don't lose arrows, I don't break them shooting groups, and I don't do a lot of 3D shoots where I need a bunch of arrows. Yesterday I was considering buying another half dozen for the Widow but figured I should try to shoot the arrows I had built for the Stalker recurve since they were a similar build.

I don't think I can shoot the difference in them. Both arrows flew great from my bow, both field tips and broadheads. This buys me some time on buying more arrows. :LOL:

Been riding a bit of a heater as far as shooting goes for the last couple of weeks. I made a minor change in form and it's paid a lot of dividends when it comes to consistency. What I had been doing, best I could tell, was actually over-drawing a bit. It led to feeling like I was "fishing" for my anchor at full draw and I had some inconsistency because of it. My change was to keep my right hand tight to my face as I drew which has kept me consistently hitting the same anchor around my jaw. As a result, I'm wearing out the kill zone on the bag.

Something I changed a few weeks back that really made a difference for me, as odd as this may seem, is switch back to my old glasses. Not sure how many of you try to shoot with glasses on, but I'm stuck doing it. I've tried contacts and they don't work well for me. My most recent glasses have more rectangular lenses and are slightly bigger than my previous pair. I've struggled with them being slightly in the way when I get close to full draw. The string will often contact the corner of the lens. My prescription has hardly changed in 10-12 years, so I figured why not wear the older pair to shoot in and see if there's less contact issues. The older lenses being more rounded and slightly smaller made a huge difference and I have not had contact issues with the string to my glasses.

I've been dialed in pretty well for the last 10ish days. Let's do this for real soon.

Alright, gentlemen. Who's still out there slinging? I'm still making time for at least a few arrows a day. These past few days, when that wind has been blowing, I don't last long! Apparently I'm not built for arctic weather. I sort of keyed in on a form thing with my hook on the string that has been really working well for me lately. It's a slightly deeper, stronger hook on the string. It was something I picked up from a Tom Clum podcast a while back. I only took a few shots tonight but managed to get a good golf ball strike on the last arrow.

Mason, Steve and I met up with Tiny, Megan and Chuck over at Ross County a few weeks ago for their weekly Sunday afternoon indoor 3D shoot. It’s a good way to spend a couple hours this time of year. Give a shout if you two would like to ride over one Sunday.
