Corn

There is still corn standing in this part of the state, especially where I hunt. As of Dec. 11 the USDA estimates 18% is still standing in Ohio.

On the bright side we're finally getting a few days of cold, maybe some more will get done before this weekend.

There's a rumored booner about a mile from our house, and also about 150 acres of corn right there too...I imagine he hasn't left since October!

Seen 3 different combines in the field on the way home from work today, they are hard at it up this way.

Talked to a farmer today that I know pretty well. Said he had 100acres of corn he tried to get off this morning. Too wet still. Just a crust of frozen ground. Told me the snow just blanketed the ground and acted like insulation when the temperatures dropped. His corn is mostly still standing. Then again, I saw another farmer out with 2 tractors ripping a field. Those fields looked beautiful. No tire tracks and where the soil was turned it was muddy, but didn't look like it was a mess.

Almost no corn left in my area. I have been trying to find some still on the cob but no such luck.
