Disassembly of Steel Force Hellfire

3 Rivers Archery has the Steel Force 4 blade, steel ferrule, in 200 gr. for $20. I purchased 2 packages of them and as soon as I put my hands on them, I attempted to disassemble them to put a fine edge on the main blade.
Not a chance! đźš« There's a locking ring that can be turned and removed, but the blades will not come off. I've had a pair of vice grips on the main blade and pulled on the ferrule with a lot of force and it will not separate.
These broadheads are useless if they can not be sharpened!!!

Has anyone had one of these broadheads apart?
What's the key to their disassembly?

Figured it out, but not before destroying one of them.
I put the main blade in a pair of vice grips, removed the locking ring and wiggled the ferrule loose to get it to separate. Seems simple enough, but prior to this I had tried several attempts to remove the main blade without success.

Thought I'd post my findings, in case anyone else is attempting to sharpen these broadheads and is having similar issues. :) Now, I'm back to sharpening these things.

So….. what were you doing wrong? I must’ve missed it. What was the problem?
The locking ring has to be spun to an open slot and then removed. There are prongs on the main blade have to be in the slots on both sides and the retaining ring has to be pried up and removed. I had to get a knife edge under the ring to get a hold of it, to lift it up....all the while not cutting myself.
I gotta say it's a helluva blade retaining system. (y)
