If I have one shot to hit you clean between the eyes at 21', I'm using the Ruger Mark IV. I qualified for my CCW with it the first time and it's easily the most accurate gun (for it's intended use) in my arsenal. Cheap and fun to shoot as the others have said.

Another vote for the Mark IV. Sweet little guns. My 10/22 is also one of my favorite guns, though.

My belief is that every man should own at least 3 guns - a pistol, a rifle, and a shotgun. If you have one of each, then you just need to pick whatever you want. .22's are great for target shooting, 10/22 is a great platform (I own two, keep one with a scope and one with iron sights). My .22 pistol is a Buckmark and I couldn't be happier with it

I will say that every other person I've talked to who owns the Ruger 357 loves it. Fandamntastic pistol. With very high cool factor.

Drop hints for the second one you want and go buy the #1 pick.

If you need help getting it into the house, I strongly suggest reading : Gunrunning (found in the book The Grasshopper Trap) by Patrick F McManus

McManus! Ain’t heard that name in a while. Last page of Outdoor magazine. I loved his short stories.

I've always been intrigued by the "gotta sneak it past the wife crowd."

I never had to worry about that because she knew I always took care of the family first. Any I ever brought in were paraded around and shown to anyone not Quick enough to go hide! Lol
I have however given advise on the matter to many a young married man.
