Fly trap

Flies have been terrible this year. I make my own fly traps.
Take a 1 gallon milk jug.
Cut off the top of a small water bottle neck.
Cut a X towards the top of the milk jug and insert the cut off water bottle top.
Put some water in it and some meat.
Hang up.

These 3 fly traps were put up 7 days ago by my cattle water tank and already there is 5" of dead flies in them.
Somewhat strong smell nearby but I have less flies.

Wow, hell of a trap! Will these catch deer flies too? The deer flies are horrendous up here by the lake.

If they are attracted to smell I would say worth a try.
Do use the smaller water bottle size as it seems flies fly in and out of the large bottle top. But still catches a lot of flies.

This is a great idea, just think it wouldn't work well for in the garage.

If you had a detached garage you never wanted to go into it would work great. Also keep 2 legged thieves out but probably have a buzzard setting on top the roof.
LOL

The garage is detached, its just I like to be in there a lot. I wonder if there is something that wouldn't stink as bad but would still attract flies?
