Free wind checker..

A friendly reminder that the milkweed pods are maturing if your looking for free wind checkers ..i like to use them in the woods to watch and record how the wind travels through a woods given the different wind directions. You may be surprised at times what the wind does as it cuts through.

good idea is to pick them now and let them sit on a window ledge and dry.

I've used them for many years.
When the kids were little, I showed them the reason I kept a few around one day when I emptied out my pockets from a morning hunt...


(They dont do well in the washer or dryer. Gotta always check the kids pockets before washing...The one day my wife forgot to check pockets, we ended up w/ over a dozen pods in the washer and drier...lol)

If I remember to get them...an old 35mm film case works great to hold them after drying.

Great idea Milo! I personally never used them but that's a great way to check the wind currents. I know where a ton of them are as my kids and I have found many monarch catipillers there for school projects a couple years ago. Thanks!
