A few years back, my uncle in SE Ohio, told me he's been hearing of wild boars running wild in the hills, but never physically saw any on the farm, or in the pastures. Until this year, he sent me a picture of a 350+ that was killed a few minutes down the road. Just curious to see if any other counties are seeing them with any frequency. It's not why I make the trip out there, but sure as hell wouldn't be a bad parting gift!!

I have three of them showing up on trail cams on my farm in binton county, all boars no does and no babies just three frustrated boars[emoji3]

There is not may hogs in Ohio, like someone said on another thread, with all the gun hunters during gun week, How many are killed and you (meaning us hunters) don't hear about many killed either. In all seriousness I lived in NC and SC and there are pockets of them in those to states, hog hunting and the so called invasion is a giant hoax.

You could ride to Georgia on a moped, kill a hog, and drive back before you saw your first hog track in ohio. They're not that common here and very nomadic.

Just ran in to a pipeliner from Vinton/Meigs County area the other day and he claimed to be trapping hogs left and right. Course he wasn't at our second meeting as he'd been moved to another project, so I think that may speak to the credibility of his statements...

ODNR has blown it up into this huge thing and people have drank the KoolAid. What areas did have a hog population going, they have gone in with giant traps and trapped most of them over the last two years. The farmers have also blown this "problem" way out of proportion. I seen first hand what one farmer was complaining about and the spot was barely big enough to park my truck into…. I hunted that spot for him for a week strait and seen 3 pigs that couldn't of weighed 20 lbs each. This is also in an area that a guy runs a business running them down with dogs. The last group of pictures I seen floating around from this guy looked like he could of run these "wild boars" through the local county fair and got more money.

But if the challenge you are after and that ghost buck isn't hard enough to hunt? This would be a hell of a challenge! If it's meat you're after? It's much cheaper from your local hog farmer or to travel a couple states away.

Hogs in south don't start getting thick until Georgia, North and South Carolina they are spotty and nomadic. I hunted them hard on what was considered the best hog area in NC and see 3 in 3 years. Of course my funds were limited and I wasnt spending $1000 in feed to kill one lol.

You better kill every Hog you see whileyou got the chance with in ten years they will take over once they take hold trust me.They eat everything in site and move on.It looks like a plow went thru a field over night destroying everything in site.Big country if you think it is a Hoax load up and come down to S.C.and I'll show you.We caught over 150 with in a 2 mile circle of my house.Its not in spots here.

Sounds like a few TOO members should come help a guy out and shoot some free hogs.

I will take you up on that offer in the spring if you are serious. I lived in Greenville Sc and had to travel to Lowdesville state land to get a chance to kill one, (missed 1 at 30 yards, arrow it a branch). I could never find a farmer or a contact that would allow me to hunt the invasive species without paying a ridiculous amount of money.

20 years ago you had to go to southern GA to find any real hog population. Today they are now dense in Northern GA as well. All my family lives about 35 miles west of Atlanta. Have an uncle that has killed 3 in the last 2 years off his property. He has hundreds of pictures of them all over his property. He told me he could probably kill one anytime he wants as they run the creek 100 yards behind his house. The few he has killed has been him sitting on his back deck. It doesn't take long for them to get a firm foothold and really populate an area. With the limited sightings we have in Ohio I would guess we are probably still a decade or so away from having a real problem. I will say though that I think we will have a problem before TOO long.

Big country I'm only 10 miles from where you are talking about.I can fix you up want cost you nothing hunting lic.How about finding me a good place up there to kill a good Buck.I hunted Adamscounty a good bit.
