How do you enter or join a deer hunting team and deer contest?

I know its too late this year, but I was curious how the the contest/teams works and how I can join a team for next year. I enjoy friendly competition.

A thread is started about the upcoming deer contest and everyone that wants in says "I'm in". You are then placed on a team when enough people sign up. Teams are random.
