My guess is they’re just trying to figure out how to get more gun hunters on the landscape, since weekday gun season participation has been next to zero for the past several years.
Well, let’s have a deer season that allows all legal implements to be used. Stop having this and that season. If you want to go bow hunting, go bow hunting. You want to take a gun, take a gun. I think Texas does this.

This would make sense in the way data says most only fill one tag anyways. Fill your tag and be done.

With the gun battles we have today in the political scene, I don’t want to see it inside the hunting world anymore. How are we any different by arguing among ourselves about how “bad and deadly” they are? “Responsible” gun owners are to be trusted. (Unless it’s Deer we are taking about?)

Sorry Jim, that isn’t all directed towards you. Kinda went off the deep end on that one. First paragraph was for you, I think the rest was for me to hear and anyone else wanting to listen. Some of that hard to swallow truth.

I think your proposal would destroy those numbers. You give guys long range guns starting opening day of traditional bow season and throughout the whole year, we'd decimate the population in one year
They would have to actually know what the population is in order to decimate it.

I wouldn't doubt it comes to the "it's deer season use any weapon" in my lifetime or my kids lives. With hunter recruitment going in the direction it's headed.....

I agree. They'll probably reach varmint status in my lifetime. There will be so many deer and so few hunters, they will beg people to kill them.
