Lotsa Dead Deer

Did some driving last weekend from Delaware to Akron/Canton/Alliance. Also, I drive daily from Delaware to the east side of Columbus. The number of dead deer I have seen is crazy. Anyone seeing the same? Any ideas on the reason?

Does seem to move a lot just right before giving birth. I always see an influx of highway deer kills in Early May.

I’ve seen the same from Cincy-C-bus-Zanesville as well. I see a lot of dead critters through April and May though.

I saw plenty of victims on our way back from paint creek. Always seems to happen this time of year...

The #’s of road kill deer between NC and WV on 77 are minimal. Once you hit the Ohio line crossing the river, it’s every couple miles you’ll see some…. Route 11 between Canfield and East Liverpool I’d always see tons of roadkill deer….

Increased travel due to habitat degradation in my opinion. Does are in search of prime fawning habitat and all deer are in a state of high nutritional demand right now. They need high quality food and cover right now more than any other time of year. Unfortunately in some areas, they have to look pretty hard to find it.

Add the increase in farm activity and it all makes perfect sense.
