I have a preference point and i spent a little extra for style more points. It's my brother's 40th this year so it would make for a cool birthday present.

I think it's 1/10 th of the available permits go to non residents. Last year the average was 1/79 non residents got pulled.

It's $15 to enter. Must of the guided hunt prices are $2000-4000 for you and your subpermitee (each) plus your tag and butchering if you're successful.

Yes i know @giles they aren't as big a your Alaskan moose but it's a lot more affordable especially since we can drive there. I think an Alaskan hunt for moose would end up being $10k plus airfare and that's only one person.

Tinytucky, you can pay the $15 but not enter to be drawn and just build up preference points for when the timing is better.

Alaska is a dream hunt for most. They know it so they mark it up. In some areas they make you get a local guide also. This is so you don't just take from the locals. You generate financial gain to the community, they know this also and mark it up.
