One of the properties that borders my in-laws farm (the driveway is almost directly across from theirs) came up and we got it at a very fair price. Its 23 acres with tillable that the farm already is farming. It has some woods but it has a bunch of dead ash trees that we'll have to clean up. It has an older barn that will need some work. It has a "buckeye barn" outbuilding that'll hold my beekeeping stuff nicely. It has a pear tree and an apple tree that haven't seen a proper pruning in years. The house was built in 1901 and will work for our family until building costs begin to approach reasonable again. It also has free natural gas which is a nice bonus.
So we're currently getting our house ready to sell and go on the market the weekend before father's day.
Gonna be more posts about it as we get closer and start doing things. Ideas for mowers vs small tractors...that sort of stuff.
I'm looking forward to it because I'll be able to have more sustainable things like chickens, a larger garden, that sort of stuff. It'll also be nice to walk out my door to hunt/shoot/climb a treestand/listen for 'yotes or turkeys, etc.
Here goes nothing!
