Picked up some Federal range fodder in .40 the other day and noticed something strange. The box had a warning on it not to shoot in a firearm with a ported barrel or ported comp...

I have a comp/barrel coming in for my XDM and would probably be putting some of this through it.

Anyone know why they say not to do it?

Prolly a soft jacket or something they don't want cheese grating on the ports. I don't know

They are standard FMJ Federal Maroon box??? I have had a problem with lead build up from reloads but never anything with copper coming off other than a bit of copper fouling in the barrels. Hmm...

I wonder if they've had trouble with jacket separation with some kind of porting? leaving a jacket in muzzle making the next round a kaboom.
