Ok master interpreters I want to hunt tomorrow but need to buy another tag tonight no big deal. My delema is my printer is not working and I do t have access to one tonight. Is it legal to have a mobile permit or just license. Here it is in the book but it says license not tags can be displayed. What are your thoughts if I sign the permit on my phone?

I’ll take the other side. I think if you have the mobile tag you’re ok to hunt if you fill it out on your phone (I have done this on an iphone with the mark up tool). Then I just wrote the code on a piece of paper and attached. Went above and beyond and put the rest of the tag info on it but that isnt required.

“The permit may remain unattached until the hunter arrives at a residence or temporary lodging.”

“Once the hunter leaves the game unattended, the completed permit or tag, or confirmation code, must be attached. The permit or confirmation code is required to remain with the game at all times.”

“The confirmation code must remain at- tached to the game and its parts. The code may be written on the back or bottom of a mount.”

“The game check process must be complet- ed prior to butchering or processing the carcass. This does not include field dressing.”

I believe the reason behind having the tag is that it must be signed to be valid. Same reason Walmart makes you sign them on the spot. Tag isn’t valid until that point.

I’ve been checked before without the tags signed and it sure complicated things a bunch. Let that be a reminder for everyone to sign them.

They clearly make a distinction between licenses and permits, the license is the only thing they say can be displayed on a mobile device. The tag has to be printed simply because that is what you HAVE to fill out and put on the animal when you kill it, before you move it.

No longer required to be on the animal before you move it. It does need to be filled out though. It does need to be attached to the animal when you get home or to temporary lodging. Or if you are going to leave the animal.

This is a great example of why if you have questions regarding laws you call the source that will be writing you a ticket for a straight answer. Too many hunters dont read the law book yearly to see what's updated so they give you information from the law book they read 5 years ago to the best of their recollection. Law enforcement wont very caring that you asked the internet and they told you wrong.
