while I was out deer scouting a few weeks ago at Ground Zero (that's what Nancy has dubbed our hunting property because the street address is 0 $&*^$*#### Rd) I found quite a lot of rasberries and blackberries. we went a picked two quarts of black rasberries yesterday and enjoyed some food from our new piece of ground. the berries were slow to ripen as I have been watching them for nearly a month, but there will be twice as many in a couple more days. blackberries so heavy on the plants that some are falling over. a couple more weeks before those are ripe, but we did pick a handful of ripe blackberries, too. Rasberries are my favorite, by a wide margin. Slumps are cooked entirely on the stove top in cast iron skillet or dutch oven, unlike their cousin cobbler which needs to go into the oven.
