I contemplated getting one as a base for a future build for my son but I'd rather go to a gunshow and find an older one with the all metal trigger group. I"ve not heard any bad things about the current plastic trigger group but just doesn't feel right to me.

Sounds about right Milo. I think I gave $109 for my Marlin 60 with scope in 1993. I didn't think the 10/22 was worth the extra $10-20.
