Skull cap to skull mount kit

I have a nice buck sitting here that I’ve gone back and forth on for years. I have the original cape in the freezer already tanned but have often thought about just making it a skull mount. Gordo saying something about wishing he could do that with his first buck made me dig this article up.

I found this about a year ago...so anyone else interested in making a swap, here you go.

I have done a few bucks. A couple of things to keep in mind. If doing the one where you cut off the antlers. Make sure to take several measurements of spread and take alot of pics from different angles. This will help you get the antlers in the right position. Other than that it is pretty easy to do and there is no mess. One other thing is try to cut the antler off as close to the base as you can. Sanding the bone down takes some time, so the less to sand the better off you are.

I just did this with the half rack I killed this year. Was gonna use the real skull but got the fake one for 25 bucks. Wasn't worth the time and hassle to skin it and boil it to me.
