I have been wanting to start some sort of tradition with my dad of doing an out of state hunt. I have been thinking about pronghorn hunts to get us started because they seem relatively cheap and have high success rate. Eventually, I would like to find an outfitter to create a connection with and become repeat customers. I know a quick Google search will give me hundreds of outfitters to choose from, but I wondered if anybody here had any experience doing something like this? No preference on state or gun vs. archery. Any input would be welcomed...

Thanks,
Mike

No personal experience with it myself, but a buddy of mine goes out to Wyoming every fall. He gets antelope with a rifle every season. Seems like the success rate is really good.

Kudos to you for taking the initiative to start a family tradition like this. Unfortunately that’s something that’s getting less common these days it seems. I wouldn’t rule out an out of state whitetail hunt somewhere either. No matter what you choose, I’m sure it’ll be a great time and you’ll be glad you did it.

Our dads aren't getting any younger. Are you after a hunt, experience, meat, or all of the above? If looking for the experience and story, I suggest a hunt of a lifetime. Maybe try for Alaska or Canada.

Just looking for something different? I'd look towards Texas. I personally don't like the taste of antelope.
