I'm looking to start a small sunflower patch to attract doves by a crick. How big of a patch would I need to attract doves?

How many acres do you have available? The bigger the better. Is the creek open alongside or is it lined with trees? If trees, are there any dead or dieing trees? I would say you'll need at least a couple acres to make it worthwhile. Keep in mind, sunflowers are kind of difficult to manage. Weed control is not easy, and heavy rainfall events will hurt too.

Wouldn't even have an acre, didn't know if a 50 ft by 50 ft or patch would help at all if close to corn field? Thank you

If only a 50x50 patch I would plant to a seed crop like wheat, rye, oats or something like that and let it go to seed. I never gave thought to bird seed and only been doing deer food plots so maybe someone else will jump with some thoughts.
And welcome to TOO land.
