I am looking to buy a tablet for viewing regular SD trail camera cards. Don't want a viewer as I am looking for versatile on options and price. This will mainly be for viewing and storing pics from trail cams. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

I'm an Apple fan. I've got an iPad Mini 4 that I got from Verizon. It's just the right size for toting around, but is incredibly versatile and well-powered. I use an SD reader that plugs into the lightning port in the bottom. It also serves as my viewer for my drone. I think I pay $5 or $10 a month for a device fee, and it just shares our family data plan. Having internet access in the field is nice at times. And as a bonus, my wife prefers using it around the house instead of her smartphone.

Personally, I would like to have one that the chip fed straight into the tablet. (Less to fool with) But then again, the reader is replaceable once wore out.....

I’m not aware of a tablet maker that takes cards. I think they all need external cars readers. We have had iPads and the kids have the amazon kindles. Seem to work fine for them, I don’t use them, so I can’t say. I do know that we bought the kindles cheap around Christmas time, -$100.

I've never seen a tablet that takes full size SD cards either, but my experience is only with iPads and some piece of shit that I got from Verizon that only worked for a month.

Stay away from Lenovo Tab 4. It takes micro SD cards but corrupts them. It's a known issue. Android. It takes crappy pictures.

I have 2 of the card readers that plug into your phone. One is an apple sd lightning card reader or something like that. It imports them into my photos. The other I think is a stealth cam reader. It is kinda nice as I can look thru the photos and then just save the photos that I want to my phone. If I want I can just save them all to my phone too. Unless I am in a hurry, I usually just look at the pics, clear the card and put back into the camera.

Has anyone used the sd card reader that plugs in to your phone. I have been considering one lately. Pretty cheap and you’ll already have your phone with you in the woods.
I have one. $10 stealth card reader from rural. Got my money's worth. I'd would rather have tablet, though. Bigger screen instead of trying zoom in on phone
